There are many ways for writers to earn money from home.

Specialization. Create a home-based business to make use of a particular skill or passion. Providing tutoring services, babysitting, tax advice, genealogy research, cake decorating -- there’s a long list of specific skills that may be used as self-employment ideas to make money. Advertise services locally, on social networking sites and through a personal website in order to drum up business. Create products and sell them online through sites like Etsy and eBay. Build a client base, do good work and it’s possible to start making money independently.
